After a lot of work I've finally got my first business fully up and running! Really excited, would love your feedback

Hello Radar,

One of life’s most concrete guarantees is that you will only know how far you can go if you PURSUE YOUR PASSION and never stop trying…anything else is a waste of time….
Since before I can remember, I’ve wanted to launch my own business. Yes I’m a medical doctor and now I’ve finally done it.
I went through a process of identifying various niches and it’s been an adventure. My criteria for the business was to do something that would be centred on creativity.
It has not been an easy process but thank God for a wonderful and amazing hubby who after our marriage saw that my dream becomes a reality.

We’re super excited that BibiTees is finally a reality.

BibiTees all started with a simple idea to create high-quality custom designed t-shirts centred on the concept of promoting creativity, personal style & individuality.
BibiTees gives a voice to this digitally connected generation that seeks to promote creativity, personal style and individuality in the coolest way possible.

We just started selling our custom designed tees to friends and family and the feedback and referrers have been amazing. Recently we had a proposal to custom design 250 tees for a university alumni group and that we’re working on now.

We’ve just launched our online eCommerce store with woocommerce and Paystack (Thanks to the awesome guys at Paystack who went out on their own to helped us in some other aspect of the store outside their core service) integration for both cart and Payment respectively. Our next step is to really ramp up the online trade, general optimisation of the site, and scaling up the business and those are where I would love your feedback and any advice please.

Anyway here’s the link https://bibitees.com/

I don’t know why you have to interfere with the scrolling button … It is - sometimes - annoying. It thinking it is a rule of thumb not to interfere with such. Maybe I am living in the past.

Thanks @lordbanks FIXED!

@Ayobami_Ogundiran I don’t think we interfered with the scrolling button, maybe it’s just me. Can you please send a screenshot so as to get that fixed. Thanks for the feedback.

Solid effort. Any plans to introduce custom printing?

I visited the site - with my phone - and it took me about 2mins to load part of the home page (image attached)

so, i decided to run some speed and performance check on gtmetrix.com and the results are a cause for alarm at 65% each, a whooping 227 script request, 9.33MB page size(OMG),

Considering that I’m using a WiFi service and it took me approximately 3mins to load the 1st page, i wonder how long it will take mobile Internet subscribers.

You really need to optimize for speed.

Optimize Crapress lol goodluck with that, Do you know how many plugins you would need to go through and also the theme itself.

Hi Dear, thank God you have a site like this I have a question:

  1. What would it cost someone like me to print custom images on the shirt, this my AVI is my identity, the picture of Sephiroth on a tee shirt. This is the image i want on my shirt and will the quality be good, if you do this it would be awesome.

Here is the image

But seriously thumbs up because i got tons of images to print on shirts, this would be lovely expecting your reply,

You are displaying your ignorance in public brov, curb it.
@OP: if your team need tips, I’ll gladly help you score atleast 85 - 93% each.

@AkinSawyerr thanks for the heads up. We actually do custom printing but for now just with bulk orders.

Oh woow thanks @ekemini for this great effort. I ran the performance check myself and that was exactly my score. I didn’t want to spend too much time trying to fixed all the issues when developing the site as we were approaching our launch date. Now that the site is up and running, I can now start optimizing the site for speed as that is critical.

As you rightly said on your other post, any tip to help take the score to atleast 85-93% would be gladly appreciated.

Once more, thank you for taking the time to bring this up. that meant a great deal to me.

@dojoVader If you really want your avi image to come out very well on a tee, get a designer to help you work on it before printing on a t-shirt. This image on it own wouldn’t come up nice on a tee.

I guess ave gone overboard with this WP hatred, I will try to be objective about WP issue around here. However what i mean is that the dev will have to look into trimming the request, Caching won’t help as first timers will definitely feel the heat.

But here is my take

Images

Get rid of all PNG,images, nothing is practically transparent so a JPG will serve better and has more compression

As much as i hate recommending installing plugins install a plugin to lazy load images, so they load the images when in sight, that would help to some point

CSS / JavaScript

if you could minify all this it could go along way, infact if you could bundle them into a single file, this will save reduce your HTTP Requests. Sadly not sure how you can pull these as you are using Visual Composer all these frontend editing tools, unless you modify the function and alter those wp_enqueue_styles to load your bundle css.

The JavaScript you have too many request , and it’s beyond your control as some are from different plugins/ wp-includes and all, it’s going to be hard touching this ones , talkless of concatenating them together.

I can say the images are the biggest concern here try using JPG

I will reduce my Wordpress bashing…

don’t worry i can use another image, thanks will get a shirt from your site with a custom image, thanks

Hehe… I just need that perfect GIF to respond, chaiiiii.
So you knew all this but still want to indirectly discourage people from starting up their dream or whatever you may call it. You are E.E.V.V.I.I.L.L

For a start, use this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/speed-booster-pack/.
You’ll find a video on how to setup. Watch the video for more suggested plugin.

This should get you started without spending any extra box. It works perfect for me on one of my projects - udiit.com - which has about 35 plugins and a couple of custom hooks in the function file.
