CRUDCAST Episode 8

Sorry for getting this out late. Ezra was “sick” on the weekend. He’s better now so don’t worry. I certainly didn’t lol.

Inspired by this thread, we discuss if there’s room for focused, streamlined platforms that make it easy for a non-technical person to start up a niche service. The amount of expertise one needs to set up something for music streaming (or magento, apparently) seems ridiculous to me.

Ezra discovers the bandwidth implications of choosing Microsoft’s Azure platform. Business model or underhanded tactic? Will they go back and fix it? Will they acknowledge it? One thing’s for sure: Digital Ocean and Amazon Web Services definitely look better on paper after this.

It’s all in Episode 8 of CRUDCAST :+1:

Well done guys. I listened all through the podcast. Interesting revelations regarding Azure.

Let me point of out that Elasticache is a managed service for Redis and Memcached. It’s is not separate proprietary caching technology from Amazon. Thank you.

@Ndianabasi Thanks for that. I wasn’t sure and I randomly assumed it was something proprietary like DynamoDB. Clearly I was wrong.

Good podcasting,

I was reflecting on the release of wordpress 4.4 and it seems to point to what @akamaozu shared in your conversation when you were dwelling on music sharing for hobbyist…

Was it the auto embed that made you think that or was it something else?
