I dont think you need to travel abroad per say but again dont be a Local Champion.

Exposure: When you leave Nigeria and see what similar startups in your field do you gain understanding and be exposed to new ways of thinking.

Network: Except you know rich Alhajis willing to drop millions in your startup, meeting and connecting with Hedge fund Managers are the best way to go.

Growth hacking: Learning from the best. Some people know their stuff better than you and learning from them is easier as a foreigner and they can open up to their growth hacks.
BUT
You can actually do the same if you know your target market and provide Value to customers because Same Investors research markets and look for the top 10 in each sector to hold talks with to invest, they also ask for referrals from other fund managers etc etc…
