What's your development process from idea to launch?

Yeah! Always used to favour responsive but I get why having separate experiences is better for users. Not so much the devs

If the objectives justify the means (separate mobile site), then the results should satisfy the developers. And if it’s for a client, simply charge more money?

Totally agreed but developers are rarely ‘satisfied’ with business objectives to be honest. A bit of generalisation: we always seek the easiest to manage (read most efficient) solution from a technical perspective. I also agree they should charge more for the extra work involved.

Hi, from a standpoint view of a Front-end Dev, these are my following development process from idea to launch of a consistent product:

Discovery : These entails Project Definition, Target Audience, Content Inventory (Establishing the required content to be featured in the website), Resources (Evaluating available client assets, such as fonts or images) and Project Time (Defining Project milestone and allotment)

Planning : Planning will evolve Research & Concept (carrying out preliminary research and creating initial concepts), brainstorming (performing team brainstorming sessions), Information Architecture (defining website structure and content navigation), Page Layout (establishing the layouts for the different types of page required), Usability (ensuring ease of use through proper presentation of content) and finally for this phase, the first wireframes and mock-ups can be created which will further aid the design and development process

Design: These entails the Color scheme, Logo, Artworks, Visual elements such as buttons, typography, cross-device compatibility and prototype templates.

Then functionality and Testing will play out nicely at this phase.

Mind you, to have a consistent product in the market, the development process never ends.

After I attended the GA Product Management Course, I was a changed man. I would recommend it for anyone involved in Product. The only roles I feel should be specific are those where you really feel you need specialized skills. I think it is important for all members of the team to have visibility of the entire process and it is important to have as many people with a “Product or Design” mindset as possible rather than a Functional one.

Opeyemi, try to have a chat with Modupe and Team at Oniru one of these days and see how things have evolved from the dark ages to having a fully functional product with integration to 16 entities including payment gateways in record time. We went Agile with a twist. The team can best share their experiences with you.

How do you ensure that your entire project source code is not stolen by your collaborators for sales at themeforest or even clone for a self own next project without you
