UN Hackathon is coming to Lagos

For 48-hours (March 10-12, 2017), Lagos, alongside 8 other regions across 5 continents will hack around 3 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Hackers will build viable solutions around these goals using innovative technology.

Winning teams will also be given resources and support by the UN to hone, test and scale their ideas. They will also have a chance to DEMO at the UN Head Quarters, New York City in June 2017.

Lagos hackers are required to hack solutions around SDG 9 - INDUSTRY, INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE.

After the global hackathon, all the winning ideas will be placed on the INFLUX TRUST Connect to Effect crowdfunding page to attract suitable investors, mentors and human resources.

Venue: Ford Foundation, Ikoyi, Lagos.

This sounds like a good event, not just for the fun of networking with your peers but also from the perspective of getting funding to scale up should your idea scale through.

I always tend to associate the word “Hackathon” to breaking and entry kind of networks and/or applications. Though it means quite a number of things as in this case.

Look forward to seeing the announced list for the “judges” and “speakers”
