I can see TC is got an account on medium with folloee and followers (Pardon my English… I am not oyinbo)
Last post was sometime in 2014. Can you people give an open opinion about medium and the Nigerian user responses.
@lordbanks @SkweiRd and anyone out there got experiences on Medium?
I’m not quite sure what the question is.
Oh ok… Apologies of poor writing skills. I was on Medium and Saw TC is on Medium.
Tried to check last trends on it… I say it was sometimes around 2014.
So I started wonder why the last post was that long ago… then the question of user’s acceptance …etc came to mind.
And that is why i posted it open to know people’s opinion about medium.com
I hope I m clear this time…
Medium is a pretty interesting channel to share and consume content from individuals and organizations as well. It is heavily slanted towards the startup/founder but is getting more and more diverse as more bloggers and publisher move their publishing to the platform.
I’ve seen an acceleration of adoption over the last year so the network effect is certainly expanding the level of discourse and diversity of opinion.
If you are specifically looking for Nigerian/African content here are a few writers and publications I recommend:

Hope this helps.
Emmmmm… I just went through the site - medium.com - and there is no wow factor or at least a unique value proposition jumping at me.I would as well create a free blog and make extra box from ads placement or stick to communities like this with “real humans” i can connect with. #JustMyOpinion
He’s just discovering medium. Wow.
I maybe should have added ‘finally’… happy?!
An interesting follow up from you would have been ‘what then makes medium tick’ or ’ how have they been able to grow so fast’ without a clear value proposition, according to you.
When you leave comments like yours, it begs the indictment that perhaps, maybe just maybe, all the top Founders, investors, and corporate brands using Medium are all brain dead?
it’s actually awesome, we get to read alot of people’s personal experience and it’s clean to read.
I’m sorry I haven’t been able to respond properly, because I’m super busy at the moment, and I thought I wanted to make a more considered response, but a hasty one will have to do. That post was not posted to Medium in 2014. It only looks like it was because that is the date of original publication on TechCabal. I posted it there like a month ago.
Medium is an inspired publishing platform (it’s not a website oh, but that’s not obvious if all you know about it is what you can see from the homepage) that was created by a guy who participated/co-founded companies that defined blogging (blogspot), micro-blogging (Twitter), and once again, blogging (Medium). This is Ev Williams’ third rodeo, and it would be foolish to underestimate it.
Reasons why I think Medium is great:
- Sign up with Twitter, so I can already follow the interesting people I follow on Twitter
- No ads (not yet anyway)
- Don’t have to bookmark urls of new blogs popping up everyday that probably get updated once every two months. I just follow you.
(This is the main point here tbh. If you are not going to update your blog at least weekly, then open a medium account. It’s just easier and stress free on both you and your readers) - The recommendations tailored to you are awesome
- The UX
Can’t think of anymore but will add as soon as they come to me. You should definitely try it.
Did you miss the part where i tagged “#JustMyOpinion” or you just feeling cool behind your keypad to smack down anything that is against your thought process?
This is not so difficult to model after when chatting in an online community. Let’s not be bullies ehnnn
You forbid replies?
I’ll make sure to remember that next i see your post.
smh. Saying what I like about a platform is bullying? Smh
