Already Uber, Easy taxi and the likes are doing great job helping Nigerians get through our ever busy traffic. It’s true many more similar service providers are need. This is why I do not see the coming into the market of PickMe Taxi as a competition with these big boys ( though in a business sense, there is a tough competition to face).
For sometimes now, PickMe Taxi (www.pickmetaxi.com) a web and Android app for taxi hailing has been around for beta testing in Abuja. The idea behind PickMe Taxi is to make vetted public taxis available for commuters in Nigeria but particularly for the middle income. Two main objective of PickMe Taxi is to help fight taxi robbery called ONE CHANCE as well as help commuters easily RECOVER forgotten items in taxis.
Knowing that many of our target especially drivers may not be on the smartphone platform, we decided to go the SMS way. This makes it possible for taxi drivers without smartphone get taxi request notices by SMS. (We have little issue with this as we implemented 2-Way service. Mobile carriers changes the virtual Long code we use making 2-Way impossible. We are working at resolving that). We have however done an Android app for those on smartphone.
You may visit pickmetaxi.com or download PickMe Taxi App on Playstore and give us your opinion. Do you think this is a better way to go i.e. the SMS way? Please help with your verse pool of knowledge as usual and maybe a suggestion on how we can solve our 2-way issue.
