Here i was, living my life jejely until for some reason (partly because I lurk around the community), I stumbled across a collection of Webhosts worldwide who automatically enable SSL for their customers and yup, Nigerian prince - WhoGoHost wasn’t there (you can find it here)
It seemed puzzling at first. For a Web-host to set this up, doesn’t need that much voodoo (if they think in those terms) but it all began to make sense when I recalled an email - a promotional one, sent to me weeks earlier. So I went searching in my inbox and viola there it was - https://www.whogohost.com/security/ssl.php attached with a nice Salah promo code (still wondering what rams have to do with encryption).
Matters became more interesting when I tried to take a peep at the SSH access on whogohost. It was almost non-existent. Story for another day btw.
Whogohost by the way, are proud partners of Google Apps for business and Cloudflare. I’m all for racking in the affiliate cash and big dough but c’mon.
Moral of this story or tl;dfr : As of May 2017, latest builds of Mozilla and Chrome have started threatening website visitors on sites without ssl. This leads to loss of revenue and trustworthiness of the less tech savvy Whogohost customers which are the Majority (obviously). Whogohost has a business and moral duty as a company, to provide encryption to their customers as long as its of no cost to them. Letsencrypt is a lesser build, last just 3months and a big customer could always upgrade.
WhoGoHost also has the moral duty to keep the Web safe.
My 2cents…
