I guess we all know by now that the government do not create most job directly. But rather create and provide sustainable environment for job creation.
However, I feel that the startup scene in Nigeria might be a negative contributing factor that growth in job creation is still very low and might as well be a stigma rather a cure to problems.
Everyone cannot create startups for Nigerian Market. I think most people who think they are creating startups now should perhaps go in the direction of offering their skills and ideas as employees, professional freelancers within the Nigerian Market rather than chasing the dream of becoming founder or co founders that may and may not happen.
Not everyone even in the USA, UK, Canada, Germany etc is creating startups even with hype.
Having an eco system grow is more than just creating startups. The key ingredients is knowledge that can either be used in solving problems in Nigeria or shipping out but only for the purpose of collaborations if it’s been shipped out.
Being an Entrepreneur is more than just ideas or having determinations. Your whole life must be dedicated to the course regardless at what stage of development you are in and I don’t think all founders I see today have that whole life dedication.
I am 100% certain that give 95% of Nigerian Entrepreneur a job today worth N500,000 to N1,000,000 per month and I bet the start up dream will be dropped.
So how do this is by creating an ecommerce system of knowledge rather than ecommerce system of startups.
We should create innovative ideas that can shipped out and generate taxes.
We can make this happen only if we follow the path of knowledge creation.
