MTN liessss!

So the other day I was in the market in search of a new phone. And suddenly the Samsung galaxy alpha series caught my eye, and this was not because they were beautifully (they are really beautiful!! seriously) designed phones but because of the MTN sticker on the carton which read “Text FREE to 131 to get 6 Months WhatsApp”. I immediately bought the Galaxy A3, ripped the carton apart and put an MTN sim inside. Then MTN replied me saying “Sorry, you are not eligible to participate in this offer. To participate, buy an MTN SAMSUNG phone and send the keyword ‘SAMSUNG’ to 131! Thank you!”. So i retried with “SAMSUNG to 131” , and it sent me the same message. Till this day, I’m still calling MTN call center and they’ve refused to pick up my call.

If this is not fraud and deceit by a mega corporation, I don’t know what is?

I feel for you sir, unfortunately you not the only one been ripped by MTN in other cases, it’s either you been charged for a caller-tune you never subscribed for or random unnecessary tips sent to you every 15mins e.g health tips, how to meet a girl tips, how to fold your shirts tips… imagine MTN sending beauty tips to my 60year old aunty… smh for them.

They’ve sent me (a male) pregnancy tip once. And I’m not making this up.

MTN upgraded up to when you just see a dialog on your phone, OKing is the default button and that would take N50 from your phone if you don’t read the message closely.

Also MTN randomly, for no reason, charges you for data even when you are on a plan. Sometimes I ask myself why I am still on the loser network!
