"It appears Konga just did a MASSIVE layoff. Tragic timing for a few hundred people to lose their jobs on the eve of December

However hard decisions need to be made sometime for the good of the company. It must be really hard for everyone involved.

If you’re hiring, put word out" - @OoTheNigerian

Someone needs to create a PRIVATE group or web tool for people who got layoff can put up their CV or profile to get hired by other startups or company

working with tech company nowadays is like working with a bank

No job security

#3

Yeah…cos of their work experience

#4

The concept of job security only exists in government jobs. If you want job security, go to the civil service. No one is safe in the corporate world as even CEOs get fired from the companies they started.

My advice to startup is hire employees who can multi-task. Keep your workforce minimum. Minimise unnecessary expenses. Focus more on efficiency.

but the ceos are paid very good severance package,so he is not losing even if sacked,he also has the opportunity to use his very connected network to get recommendation for a better job.

#10

I’m not sure they’re firing any CEOs. Just low level employees, not C Execs

#11

hmnn, this is so true and funny… losing all after much commitments and financing.

#12

The only thing founder CEOs leave with if they are fired are their shares. That is why it is called a hostile takeover.

This is one of the reasons why founder CEOs now engineer the board to be composed of their goons whilst reserving Class A stock for themselves and Class B stock for others. At the end of the day, the corporate world is dog eat dog. If you want job security, go to the civil service.

And I bet you, most of those Konga guys would get jobs sooner than you can imagine; especially the technical ones.
