Kindly review Lucy's gifts registry

Lucy.ng is an online gifts super store. We make it easy for individuals and corporate bodies to shop branded gifts and merchandise for occasions and events, advertising and promotions etc. This is our third year running, we introduced Lucy here for review few years ago.

We are currently building a complimentary product called a gift registry at www.registry.lucy.ng , it basically allows users create a list of gift items they want friends and family buy for them for life’s milestone achievement.

We are almost done and look to launch soon but before we do, we would like reviews of the product or any advice that could be of help before we launch.

its here at www.registry.lucy.ng , look forward to your reviews.

Thanks

Nice!

I mean, UI guys are probably going to come and talk about UI and the likes. But I think it’s a brilliant product, if well executed.

I’m not sure if this is relevant to your core product or direction, just throwing it out in-case you guys can offer such service.

For someone like myself who have relatives and family member far away but occasionally support them when I can. Sending cash sometimes is a bad idea and ideally would prefer if I can actually buy exactly what is needed (can be food, gifts e.t.c.) … so in this sense having a subscription service that can deliver goods/products on a monthly bases would work great for me.

I know few people in similar situation and this would work great for Nigerians abroad (I think).

Thanks, that’s a good idea, you just switched on a light bulb but not in the exact direction you proposed but it should work along that over time. Subscription model for experiences will definitely work.

Hey @lawwyy I like the fact that this builds on the strength of your main Lucy platform. Which should mean there’s a wide variety of products available for users to choose from.

I think gift registers are so under-rated till you actually use one. Have you used one before (of course, apart from what you’ve built)?

Some years ago, I used a gift register (John Lewis) religiously. Then I was living with my girlfriend at the time (who luckily enough for me, became my wife), for maybe a year or so. So we had some When we finally decided to get married, we didn’t want to receive wedding ‘presents’ that we didn’t really need. JL solved that problem well.

The point of this backstory is that my experience and needs as a user makes me think you need to;

Complete ‘About us’ or ‘How does it work’

For instance, you can make clear that this is powered by Lucy.ng, why they should trust/use your service, how your guest shop, when you deliver the items, what happens for returns, how yo etc. You should go the whole distance to make a user feel at ease as this is likely the first page to check before creating an account. At the moment, the ‘Registy benefits’ simply redirects to your various ‘types’ of register. To me, this appears inadequate as users will have so many questions

See https://www.johnlewisgiftlist.com/giftint/JSPs/GiftList/HeadersFooters/AboutUs.jsp as example of the information and level of detail to consider.

Ease of adding items to a Register

Maybe worth approaching this from a user’s perspective. I would have preferred to shop and add items to my register, before creating an account.

On the other hand, when I’ve created an account, it would have been good to have a selection of products for types of registers. E.g You’ve pre-selected 10 quality items from your platform which makes it easier for a user. In other words, some curation from you will be very helpful.

Side note; when I created my account, it might make sense to allow me shop and later confirm my account (perharps before next login)

Overall, your onboarding process works. You asked for relevant information (nice touch sending the email addressed to the couple) and the flow was intuitive. And once I login, the value of your product was clear. Good job!

Thank you so much for this, i really appreciate it. I’d take time tomorrow to work on the hints you shared. God bless
