Human Capital Management; How important with tech startups

Any casual observer is aware of the huge traction e-commerce businesses are receiving in recent times with the likes of Jason, Iyinoluwa, Marek, Essien and Gossy (Apologies if I didn’t mention your bosses/colleagues name,).

With virtually no help from the Nigeria government in infrastructure, it burdens on the heart how they possibly get it work. One wonders (at least I do) what secret they have up their sleeves, working sometimes with practically no man management experience (correct me if am wrong).

These questions have I, wanting me to begin a start up soon; with knowledge that its the ‘PEOPLE’ (Human Capital) that keep these startup’s or companies moving forward.

Any first-hand insights on these? Any thoughts???

How IMPORTANT are their HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS to success ???

I believe it is very important, it is actually how companies like FB and Google have grown. You can not create great innovation without a solid team. I believe a lot of Nigeria companies are unable to create innovation because they think HR is not important and do not invest in their team.

Yes. Read Mark Essien’s unorthodox manner into recruiting. My hand tingles at our methods. Heey! I have got nothing against His methods, I Just would like to see a pattern in our methods.
I think its sad to wing it hoping every and anything just happens (sorry am a data person)

These tech startups are the ‘brain children’ of people, I see too many failed startups, and granted I might nurture a certain fear for it (failing that is).

What is the right pattern to this investing in their team?
