LOL, now I’ve heard everything.

Of all the erroneous information @Godmode has disseminated in this thread this is the only point that makes any iota of sense.

However the reality is that we DO NOT live in a world where a Nigerian search engine exists and that has captured the entire Nigerian market share. We rely on Google. Nothing more really to be said.

You forget that whether your search engine is local or not, most of your search interests are global.

Even for local searches; Google’s got more information on Ernest Obi - popular Nollywood actor/director - than that distance relative that lives on Africa Magic.

Baidu succeeded by effectively shutting Google out of China and by default what mainland Chinese internet users found on Baidu became the information standard for them.

The only kind of local search services that have thrived even in places where Google is dominant are niche search engines; like property searches, fuel stations, even pubs.

Just to bolster the point everyone was making…

and as both of you know…I have not met either of you and neither have you given me your password… FYI lordbanks, I actually got to see the first line before the system eventually realised I was not you. Clearly, I shouldn’t be able to do this.

@odaros - I tried it but I thankfully got a 403 on the request to load the messages, which would have been different story if I had the unencrypted session cookies.

On a different note, your metaphorical zipper is open. ⌘ + ⇧ + 4 will keep the prying eyes away.

yeah I realised but couldn’t asked to crop the pic

are you really serious?..you’ve gat to be kidding me.
So why then do you think major companies are running with SSL?
facebook, google, adobe, github, instagram, twitter, cloudflare just to mention a few.

In Okon Lagos voice; Iya mmi! My head is doing jagolova

sites with SSL still don’t guarantee 100% security, i’d suggest let’s have it here on Radar anyway

Thanks. I read “as soon as possible” to mean 24 - 48 hours. It’s been 8 days so do you mind giving is an ETA?

The original offer still stands. Thanks.

@lordbanks - 16 days and counting…

:hourglass_flowing_sand: Tick tock. Tick tock. 22 days. The offer still stands.

Dear Mr @lordbanks

I stopped updating this thread because I read the forum rules again and discovered I had been breaking them by updating this thread every 7 days.

Frankly I was also tired of doing so but this issue is actually quite important and urgent. You may not fully appreciate why it is urgent but I’m sure you may recall a thread in which I showed that ads were being injected into my Radar feed, and that was on iOS. 56 days have now passed. Please can you update the thread with a specific ETA?

Alternatively…

I propose to drive to your office to help you sort it out once and for all. My fuel, my time, no charge.

Thank you.

Dear Mr. Techscorpion.

We really appreciate your kind offer, but I assure you, it is not necessary. You are however welcome to visit our office for coffee, and to view our infamous development roadmap.

EDIT: Thanks for not breaking the rules. Means a lot.

I don’t want to be in the shoes of Big Cabal right now. Implementing SSL will involve rebuilding the Discourse app which will a very tricky thing to do. Any mistake will result in the loss of all Radar database from inception.

Nice one. I have to admit, it took me a few seconds to get it.
