How long does it take a single developer to build a woocommerce replica?

I thought i was alone on this one, i have always come across people who want you to create a whole lot for them in short time, at first i thought it was my problem then i realized it was really them that had a problem and its called ignorance. so what i will advice you do is talk to this client tell them the intricacies of writing something this big and if he has a lot of money in his pocket as he is planning on making money from it, he should probably bring out more money so you can hire more hands, but then at that it wont still be ready in 2 months.

Is this a joke ? Reject the job, if you value your quality of work. If you are intent on doing it, you will need #500 Million to get UX Devs, PHP & Other Devs because you cannot be good in all aspect of code. This is just stupid, 2 Months! Do you really have an idea what your are leading yourself to, it is impossible and we know times are hard but this is just ludicrous

No, It not a joke.

And you are right, I hate UX Design. I really suck at it. One cannot be good at every aspect of a project.

I will make them understand the reality and what can be achieved with the given time.

They will probably need to hire more people.

Next time be careful what you agree to or what you are silence about because that itself means you have no objection. Right now you will lose credibility & reliability if you tell them but the truth of the matter should be told.

This is what happens when a developer works for a Theatre Arts major.

hahaha, I just couldn’t ignore this one. Honestly speaking, even those saying a year or 2 are kidding IMHO.

I started listing all the things you ll need to work on and just gave up. that was gonna take me 2 week to write all lol.

build the backend, build api hooks, configure the servers to test, database optimization for faster queries, security(CSRF, XSS etc), unit testing, integration testing.

frontend…mockups, convert mockups to markup, styling, javascripting(hahaha, DOM works plenty).

Woocommerce,

Billing, hooking up to CMS, doing serious tests to ensure that all those things are working,
I am tired.

Just check when wordpress started, when woocommerce started, non of them has less than 100 devs trust me. then maybe you’ll be done when I am President of Nigeria. That’s if no bugs occur.

You deserve better…walk away

Selling a software with the same capabilities of an open source software? Unless they have a plan to bring 10x value to the product I don’t think thats a good biz model

what do you do? do you even have an idea of what wordpress, woocommerce is?

Lol. I’m a bricklayer on Radar.

For some reason, the companies they want to sell to want the woocommerce kind of software but without the woocommerce name, licences and restrictions.

I thought as much!

I worked at a company where I spent 1 and half years building a social network targeted at undergraduates. They actually put all the workload on me, web API plus mobile app development.

Truth is, after building that shii… you would still need to write documentations and maintain it for almost the rest of your life.

Exactly.
Because the employer does not know anything about tech, he does not realise that there is documentation and maintenance.

They think it’s just set it & forget it.

Lol!

Its just ignorance most of the times.

In my experience, and I’ve had a couple, they almost always understand when you make things clear for them as adim explained in his step 5.
