Hotels.ng Internship Experience

was there any python or ruby developer among any of the interns that participated or was everyone a php developer?

There were people with different programming backgrounds there.

However, most of the work we did was with PHP so those that did not know had to learn. Those who knew had to brush up.

I think it will be a good idea if developers with different background knowledge in about two different programming languages or more could be accepted such as Python and php, I believe some, I inclusive, might prefer to stick with a particular preferred language of their choice till they reach a certain level of proficiency but at the same time participate in the coming internship programmes, and get a broad knowledge and practical application of our tools rather than learning another language. Just an opinion though

There was absolutely no restriction on requirements for participation. The only qualification was your interest. And once you get in, you discover that the company has its tools. They’re not going to change their whole stack because of you. Either you learn the new stuff, and learn it quickly, or…I don’t know :disappointed:

@GbMillz as much as the company is trying to help the entire ecosystem, they still have to make sure it makes business sense.

It is already hard enough to get amateurs to build something significant within such a time frame, adding the complexity of multiple languages can be too much.

At lest with one language you are sure that they should only get better

You have a point though. If other startups and tech companies could do something similar it will be a good thing and general development for the ecosystem…you people too (our seniors) can mentor other interested developers too  cheers

@StephenAfamO There is a consistency to the program.

Second set of interns, same “testimony”. I used to code, but after the internship, I became pretty sure I Can code. Thanks to @mark for this opportunity.
