Google allo vs Whatsapp?

Grin! Grin!! Grin!!!

War Start…

And… That’s all!

I kind of like the Google Assistant thing but I really see no difference bar the colorful UI. I’ve downloaded it but no one seems to be using it yet. Beht why?

My only concern with Allo is the privacy issue

But for now, I’ll stick to “wazzap”

Before WhatsApp implemented end to end encryption, what were you using? Curious.

My concern is adoption

Being Google, they already have one million downloads on playstore.
That’s not surprising.

The thing is most of them like me, downloaded simply out if curiosity. If there’s no one to chat with there, I won’t use it and eventually uninstall.

Now the chicken and egg.
With the amount of messaging apps including WhatsApp and FB Messenger, how do you convince me to use allo when all the people I can contact through allo can be found on WhatsApp?

I will watch this closely. I will learn from their path. Whether they succeed or not.

I feel like Google assistant should be a standalone product. Users can call the assistant from other messaging apps or anywhere else.
The suggested responses are quite spot on too and pretty interesting.

With WhatsApp, you can quote messages (not even sure why this isn’t on Allo), there’s WhatsApp web which I love and you know… practically EVERYone uses WhatsApp.

WhatsApp nooni but I never cared. Now I care

Google has always had a confused approach to messaging.

When it comes to the era of messaging, Google’s efforts aren’t shrinking at all. They’re multiplying into a dizzying array of disconnected services. Very disconnected.

Three years after trying to unify its messaging efforts under the Hangouts brand, Google has decided once again to let a stupid experimentation reign. Google Allo will hardly get a good market support.

It would have been more awesome if they had found a way to integrate Allo’s winning features into Hangout. The Assistant, Voice Call, Video Call et al. The fact that I would have to switch apps to make video or voice calls under the same brand is very annoying.

The only sales pitch that makes sense is Allo’s Artificial Intelligence.

PS. If Google decides to kick-out Whatsapp from the Playstore, just like Blackberry. Then that’ll be a different story.

The ecosystem Google has is huge, imagine when they start integrating payments, search (currently on it), google drive, docs e.t.c The convenience will be the key player to me.
