Where are the freelance platforms in Nigeria? The odesk, elance and the likes? Are they making money and impact?
Funny you should ask. Earlier in the day, I put up a request under the products category, for advice and critique on a Nigerian freelance platform that attempts to mimic one of the better known ones out there. I can’t say for sure if elance, odesk and fiverr for that matter, are making money, but I know that a great number of people freelance on those platforms, and a greater number of people make use them.
While on Forbes website a couple of weeks back, I came across an article which estimated that by 2020, freelancers would make up approximately 34% of the US labor force, up 4% from the current 30%. Judging from that it would seem likely that these platforms are profitable; perhaps disruptive even.
You can have a look at http://galilea3.com/signup/en , which is a multilingual marketplace for freelancers.
The platform looks really tight and well structured.
I will take the word out to the truly skilled that needs to be on it…
I believe their growth strategy is silently organic.
Thanks @Oboraxe, will appreciate that.

Great job guys! Since the Government has failed us - the youth, we need to take the bull by the horns and get busy online. We all need freelance platforms like these to be able to reach out to the world while making money online.
Please take note and update your records accordingly. WorkDesk Nigeria - https://www.workdesk.ng/, is changing the freelance landscape in Nigeria and I’m a proud WorkDesk Pro who is among the first five freelance members when the company first started and the platform is growing exponentially. WorkDesk is designed and managed by Nigerians headed by a team of software developers in Canada, North America.
I believe based on personal experience after working on serveral freelance platforms, that WorkDesk Nigeria is simply the best and most popular freelance platform so far for Nigerians.
