CRUDCAST 12: Rewarding Customer Experiences in Nigeria

Ezra changed his perspective on the Loyalty Rewards company I’m helping out when he discovered a start-up doing similar things has a monthly revenue of over $50,000 and was recently valued at about $50 million.

Since we don’t know of mature Loyalty Reward programs in Nigeria, I tried (and did a poor job of) unpacking the concept: the value proposition to customers and to business owners.

Why aren’t Loyalty Rewards programs widespread in Nigeria? What benefit would using it bring to your operations? What kind of businesses are great candidates for such a system?

Tolu brought up the concept of Selective Obliviousness: people doing things that are inappropriate because the context is slightly different from ones they readily recognize is inappropriate. Her description is so concise and accurate that I’m clearly not doing it justice.

We also announced “Office Hours”, where we’ll talk with you about your business on air. Ezra comes with a strong technology perspective, Tolu with a keen business sense and I’m quietly taking notes and learning from everyone.

There’s more in Episode 12, so dive in!

Ps.
@PapaOlabode we’d really like to have you on the show soon. How can we make it happen?

You guys are really blowing it with this Podcast

It would be nice though if there was a site specifically for Crudcast where you give more info on each episode, and give more info on each presenter, cos I still don’t know who Uzo or Tolu or anyone on the show is. And to give links to or pictures of the products/services you guys mention on the cast…
Also the size bro  data cost to download or listen isn’t easy for everyone…and even the length, it’s really long, even though its interesting, its still really long…

All the same,  Can’t wait to feature y’all on my own Podcast.

P.S. Still listening to today’s own…

Some random thoughts in random order:

• Anyone selling to small business owners (like me), will find this episode very useful. The inventory management story is a use case that will happen over and over again.

• Uzo we can definitely work together. It’s simple really. Open API let’s integrate. It might take a minute to get it done (think April/May) but it’s beneficial for you as it allows us to have more customers, which makes it worth your while to integrate. And it works for us as this is additional benefit, which we will be able to offer our customers. A win win situation really.

• The episode was relatively long. It’s fine for me. But I can see it being a pain for others. Consider editing for brevity.

• Really good insights from Tolu. Summarises on point every time! Uzo your passion in describing how the loyalty program works is commendable, however you made it more complicated than it really is. Your pitch needs work.

• Talking of loyalty program, you really need to think of removing friction (rather than trying to avoid it by aiming for the ‘knowledgable’ type of customer). Selling to small business is hard, so I’m sure you recognise that this is long haul type of venture.

• Loads of good ideas in respect of making Crudcast better. And even better that most of the ideas involve getting more people involved! Website, slack channel, topics suggestions etc. Obviously some ideas wouldn’t work but this could be the start of something even more special. :v:t6:

• Anytime you guys are ready…I’m happy to be on the show. DM me & lets make it happen.
