Charmeapp.com - On demand app for beauty and wellness | Please Share Your Thoughts

Hi Fam

I enjoy this place a lot because of the comments I always get to read, and I’m hopeful that I will get some cool constructive reveiews here, and for the gifs family members I can’t wait to see your reactions

www.charmeapp.com is an app developed to enable people access wellness and beauty services ( makeup, hair-styling, fitness, massage, male grooming and photography professionals to consumers) from verified service providers anywhere and anytime from the comfort of their phones. It’s a marketplace of sort. www.charmeapp.com is a beauty and wellness on demand service for individuals who may not have time to go to the saloon or studio. It’s currently available only in Lagos with more cities on the way, and only on the Google play store and coming soon on other stores.
The thinking behind it is that many people are becoming very busy during the week and so they need to rest or spend “family time” during the weekend. So the platform helps them get essential beauty and wellness services that they need. So a lady does not need to spend 3 hrs in a saloon trying to get her hair done or a guy can get a gym instructor to come to his house and help keep him fit.
Due to the ecosystem not being very developed, we created the platform such that services can be accessed via phone calls, WhatsApp and via the app.

Please visit the site and give your feedback…Thanks

Well you have a unique idea guaranteed to get you money…seeing as the number of ladies and wedding couples they are in Nigeria spending on such services,

Your major headache is an operational one:

  1. Sourcing for Qualified Designers and Vetting them( Vetting process, Quality Assurance process, testing and assigning supervisors per zone for tracking and monitoring, training and Beauty kitting per stylist)

  2. Costing of Services: You would need to find cost on services Salons charge, add your markup + service charge

  3. User Engagement: Setting up Beauty time appointment, making payment to your account, sourcing for material and styles they want or appropriate beauty services, pricing and content, Freebies.

  4. Marketing: The Easiest part because it fills a dire need, running to wait at salons for a tune up when you can get same treatment at comfort of home plus giving say 1000 early bird sign ups free beauty care will promote you instantly so be very big on Twitter and Instagram.

Majorly, Figuring out your Operating Parameter to have a Seamless User Journey would help.

Ahh, baba growth hacker :raised_hands: :raised_hands:

@tobilobs, from a user perspective, I know there’s usually a form of attachment to beauticans that a user likes. Do you think this might cause some kind of friction, whereby only few professionals get all the bookings?
Yes? How do you plan to mitigate this…

Shouldn’t the app recommend/suggest “professionals” who are nearest and unoccupied to the user based on requested service instead of giving the user liberty to choose whom he/she might compromise from the entire list themselves “Since you are certain they are all professionals at their own beauty skills”.

Like @gabe said, one professional can not be reaping all the values of the app.

makes me question how many “PROFESSIONALS” wont use your app for self marketing to build his/her own client base (by simply giving out call-back cards after each service) cos you certainly can’t expect user to reuse your app after getting satisfaction on a service from a professional who just changed numbers with him/her.

I don’t know how you’ll handle the trust, except am missing the point somewhere.

:raised_hands::raised_hands: Thanks for the thoughts shared

We are already doing these, thanks for reiterating it again. This makes us know we are on the right path. Thanks

Thanks Gabe

That’s a great thought. What we really want to do is make sure we have only the best service providers providing great customer service to the user. So within the app, people can rate the service providers. We will only retain the best on the platform, with this we believe that any user will be confident enough to use any service provider available on the site. This way, not only few professionals get all the bookings.

Nice one Mr Boy

That’s exactly what the app will do; suggest professionals who are nearest to the users location and unoccupied. We have google maps and geo-location capability built within the app. Also the service provider can indicate their availability status at their own interface of the app…"and yes we are certain they are all professionals  " because they are back-checked and verified before being granted full access to provide their services.

We expect the exchange of phone numbers like you have mentioned, and we have plans in place to handle the challenge, plus we don’t have trust issues :nerd:  .

Thanks for sharing your thought.

Tamam! , you re good to go bro! :relieved:

@tobilobs Was this inspired by Faari.ng perhaps?

@Il3ri I didn’t know about faari.ng, just hearing about them now.

I guess they are our senior in the category , since they launched earlier. However our offerings are different.

Figure out the Uber Model.

That helps you reduce the rate at which professionals will want to Work on the side per say even though you cant stop it, its ur Relationship with them that will keep you going and prepare to have a balanced Supply and Demand Curve, where users should never be more than agents and vice versa.

Again, how you approach the Market should be seamless from Day 1. Partner with Taxi hailing companies to get your beauticians to venues (Co-Branding/Collaboration Strategy) which even further deepens your relationship with them, as long as you can keep steady clients to them they are happy.

On the user side, you can create a system if people want to book for a particular professional then its calculated based on auction, what are they willing to pay for his/her services? alternatively they can just opt in for another nearby and cheaper but still you want happy customers so balancing this would help.

We can talk more.

Youre Welcome
