Hello All, I stumbled upon this forum and I’m excited to be part of your community. Although I do not have a tech background, I love to follow Tech news and regularly read Techcabal for the latest on Nigeria’s Tech scene. Our company, Partboyz Auto Parts (www.partboyz.com) is a retailer of auto parts. Recently we launched our ecommerce site and with zero budget on online marketing, SEO or PPC have been generating significant online orders (actual purchases). We quickly realized the potential of online marketing and we are set to double down on the sales funnel that have worked for us thus far.
As I mentioned, we are a retailer of auto parts and have grown to 6 retail outlets in Lagos and Abuja. Our goal is to become the Autozone of Nigeria. Having realized the potential of the internet to add scale and efficiencies to our industry, we have decided to take the bull by the horn and build www.autoselect.ng an online marketplace dedicated to auto parts, in the style of ebay motors parts marketplace (The website is under construction presently) Below is a link to an article I shared on LinkedIn yesterday. I invite your comments, insights and advice on best practices.
“Autoselect.ng - Building Nigeria’s online marketplace for auto parts” https://lnkd.in/drj78sj on @LinkedIn
Hello Ralph, I appreciate you taking time out to check out the site. As you rightly noted, the site is not yet ready for primetime by any means. I thought it better to beta test the website while in development and incorporate the feedback now rather than wait till release before getting user reviews.
The prices will be updated to Naira shortly and it is a purely Nigeria focused site.
The checkout issue will also be addressed.
Not sure what you mean by sample content in the footer but the plan is to hire a full time content marketer to create valuable content to drive customer acquisition
Social media icons will be in place very soon.
We will have a 100% money back guarantee when you order through the site to build trust among customers.
There’s already too many counterfeit parts in the market and we will ensure that 'if its on autoselect.ng, its genuine.
Competition is good for business and the customers are the ultimate winners when different entities compete their business. I have never heard of the two startups you mentioned and so I checked out their websites. Autobox website account appears to be suspended, perhaps they shut down the business down already. its a tough business and many players have come and gone. autofactorng has a good website. While I’m not familiar their business model, I think the value proposition that we bring should differentiate us from others. How? Because of the following:
Wide array of product listings will ensure customers can find parts they need, even the hard to find ones
Quick availability and timely delivery with a few mouse clicks without the hassle of going to a dirty spare part market
Genuine parts only: if its on autoselect.ng, its genuine
100% money back guarantee
We are experienced auto parts professionals and will ensure your part exactly matches your vehicle
