You for no disclose, lol
Lol
He just had to save his head before the Bahd Baddo Baddest Radarians goes after him.
Iām aware that one of my people in the office has ordered. We wait.
Lol ā¦ I can see you want to tension us ā¦
I got 106. Am I right?
Every founder gets to float a startup?
Whoās turn is it next?
On a more serious note; these are quality skins. Good ideas, inbtw. Merely, looking forward to their execution, that takes the day any time.
Lmaoooo!!! @xolubi ā¦ How na! ā¦ The day we are 106, weād be a unicorn.
Thanks @87_chuks, thatās our only strength, āExecutionā.
So here I was, jejely walking home after work when I decided to book using the coupon code. The booking process was quite smooth. Bearing in mind, it was N3000 worth. I carefully selected jollof with chicken, costing N1000. On checking out, I was met with a delivery fee of N500. During this time I was asked to input the couponā¦ Which I didā¦ The UI kept telling me, in a mix of Ibo and English to chillā¦ There after it said āIt looks real, go onā
I wasnāt expecting the debit card interface to follow, because since the coupon covered my N1500, I thought I wasnāt paying. Suprisingly, I was wrong. 500dishes still asked me to pay a N20 booking feeā¦ I was likeā¦
Ok so I paid and completed my booking. Almost immediately, a pre recorded customer care personnel called me to confirm my booking. By the way. Delivery options were only available from midday of the following day.
The chef also called to confirm.
I scheduled the delivery for 1pm the next day, but it arrived fifteen minutes before time. Which was impressive. I had already forgotten I made a booking, and was about to go get lunch when the dispatch came.
Overall, The whole ish was smooth AFā¦ I most likely wonāt recommend for 'instant gratification type of hungry". Perhaps for a pre determined occasion or meetup.
The chicken was bigā¦ Hey bukka peeps. Iām patiently waiting for your coupon
Iāve ordered from 500 dishes, 3 times now, so I consider myself a mini-authority on the subject. I liked that it was very easy to get around, and that there was a large enough sampling of chefs to cater to most peopleās tastes.
On my first night, I ordered 5 packs of small chops at 2500, and I expected the 500 naira delivery fee. What I did not expect (read: like) was the 20 naira-per-chef charge that sprung up on me at the last minute. Under different circumstances, itād be enough of a peeve to make me close the site at that point. I know Iām being more pedantic than most other people, but I think you should do all the math and present me with a 520 (or whatever) naira fee termed Delivery & Booking. Or some version of that.
Why? Because you generally want to provide as seamless an experience as possible. I donāt want to have to take so many decisions. Which brings me to your payments processor. In all my travels on the interwebs, whenever I wanted to pay for anything, I had to mentally prepare myself to type my all card details into the text fields of the Teller that is not Quick, and hold my phone, hoping my token SMS arrives sometime this year.
I was so impressed by the process (or lack thereof) of paying for the small chops, that I took 30 seconds out of my time to write this 469-word Medium post: I know the answer to the Nigerian payments problem.
My small chops arrived in the 4:00pm - 4:59pm window that I selected the day before, and Iām not surprised because the site isnāt getting as many orders as it could be getting. Reminds me of when a new internet service provider comes into town, and announces how much faster they are than everyone elseā¦right until we all jump on the bandwagon.
This was as good a first experience as any, and the small chops I devoured on Thursday were so well made, that I tweeted about them.

I then placed my second order. This time, it was 4500 naira for 24 doughnuts. My troubles started when the chef called me to say it was not convenient to deliver at noon. I asked āconvenient for who?ā, to which she replied, āme. Iām sending out a lot of orders around that time, so do you mind if we move it to 1:30?ā. I agreed because I wasnāt in a hurry, but I can see how this would affect someone whoād organised a birthday party and planned around the delivery time she selected on 500 dishes. At least, the chef was decent enough to call. All is well with the world, right?
No.
My order came at 3:15, 3 hours after I wanted it. Thereās no justification for that. Whatās worse? I opened the box, and the things inside it (not sure I can call them doughnuts) looked like a parody of what was advertised. No, see for yourself.
After that train wreck, someone from 500 dishes called me, and apologised for the disaster and a few minutes later, I was given a full refund (minus the booking and delivery fee). The refund was paid into my 500 dishes e-wallet, and not to my account. I chuckled, a bit because this meant I had to spend the money on Sharphireās platform anyways. Not that I had a problem with that. I immediately placed an order for another quintuplet of small chops. They arrived promptly again, and Iām on my third pack, as I write this post. Bliss.
I can tell that because the 500-dishes model relies on a wide range of chefs, who come with their different problems, it will be very difficult to guarantee a smooth user experience across the board. But I can also tell that the biggest rewards are reserved for those who solve the hardest problems.
Solve this one, and you have my heart, along with the Mastercard that accompanies it.
And most importantly, Godspeed @somtoifezue, @terry_kanu, @OdunEweniyi, and the rest of the Sharphire team.
Abeg keep one pack of small chops for me, youāve had enough
Iām sorry sah. My stomuk aff swallow efritin.
Why is there a N100 charge for changing my payment cards though? That and the N20 Naira per chef charge is why I did not order after my colleague did hersā¦ I probably am a bit more pendatic than @SkweiRd
That might be our fault to an extent. Once we allow making NGN 0.00 or 1.00 charges on cards, that will be fixed. Basically, to add your new card to your account, they have to run a charge on it to ensure its valid and Paystack currently has a NGN 100 minimum.
HI @Odunoluwa ā¦ Sorry, itās not a āN100 chargeā, itās the ONLY way we can verify your card on the platform. The N100 will be CREDITED BACK into your eWallet immediately and will be used when placing an order on the platform.
We are still waiting for PayStack to release a ācard verification APIā. So that we can verify cards and get tokens without charging them.
Iāve reached Shola of PayStack about this and it appears Itās still a work in progress.
Cheers

OHH LOOK!! ā¦ @xolubi just replied. (HOLD HIM OHHHHH!!)
Hi Everyone,
I must confess that we have learnt a lot during this 3-day test period. I also thank you all for your support and feedback so far, on behalf of the team, I say āThank Youā
We have worked on almost every feedback we got from you guys and Iām sure the entire platform experience will be much better.
Next week Monday, we are going to release another set of PROMO VOUCHERS here on Radar, so that we can perform the final tests before we fully go live.
If you have any more suggestions for 500dishes, we are all ears.
Thank you once again.
Why am I liking the sound of thatā¦
Not a feedback. I think 500dishes is great. I just have a couple questions:
-
Why do you like numbers? 99staff, 500dishesā¦what next? 24househelps?
-
Is there a strategy to the whole startup studio model beyond you spreading yourself too thin over several seemingly unconnected domains. I am asking because of you tending to become a Yahoo. I mean, overdiversifying. And I could be totally wrong with this assumption. Still asking any way.
Other than those, I think your team is great. And wishing you best.
Lool ā¦ very close!! you almost got the name
Every product is connected. It might not make sense now, but it will down the line. Every product is built to function in the āLeanestā way possible. It will shock you to know how small the entire Sharphire team is made up of. Every product & service is designed and built with the highest level of efficiency and scalability in mind.
Also psychologically, we are not passionate about these products at all, but rather, we are passionate about the impact they create and the lives they touch.
I think itās the fuel that keeps us going.
The truth is that until the average graduate can log into an online platform and start earning a comfortable living, we would NOT STOP building P2P services.
I think we are too angry with what we have seen in the labour market, and we are now mentally and psychologically ready for the journey ahead.
Cheers.
